As one of the series-conference activities of Lancang-Mekong Environmental Cooperation Roundtable Dialogue, the Seminar on Lancang-Mekong Eco-Industrial Park and Environmental Remediation Technology organized by the Lancang-Mekong Environmental Cooperation Center was held in Beijing on November 17, 2017. Officials from the Lancang-Mekong Countries’ Ministry of Environment, Zhongguancun Environmental Science and Technology Park, as well as Beijing GeoEnviron Engineering & Technology and other related environmental protection enterprises attended the meeting.

 

Chinese and foreign delegates first visited the Zhongguancun Environmental Science and Technology Park and conducted an on-site inspection on the construction of eco-industrial park and sustainable development of enterprises. Subsequently, the Seminar on Lancang-Mekong Eco-Industrial Park and Environmental Remediation Technology was held with the support of Zhongguancun Environmental Science & Technology Park Management Committee and Beijing GeoEnviron Engineering & Technology.

At the seminar, representatives of the Lancang-Mekong Environmental Cooperation Center introduced the development goals and position of Lancang-Mekong Environmental Cooperation and introduced the Green Lancang-Mekong Initiative in detail. Deputy General Manager of Zhongguancun Environmental Science and Technology Park introduced the development of environment-friendly technology and environmental protection industry in the park; deputy general manager of Beijing GeoEnviron Engineering & Technology introduced the industrial development trend and technical characteristics of environmental remediation in China. Zhongguancun International Environmental Protection Industry Promotion Center and delegations from relevant enterprises shared cases of China's urban sewage treatment and garbage disposal technology innovation and practice. The representatives of Lancang-Mekong Countries conducted in-depth discussions on issues such as regional environmental governance, environmental technology solutions & innovation, and cooperation between the government & the private sector. Both Chinese and foreign delegates agreed that the Green Lancang-Mekong Initiative promoted by Lancang-Mekong Environmental Cooperation Center will help regional sustainable development and provide an important cooperation platform for the Lancang-Mekong environmental industry and technological development.

 

On March 23, 2016, Premier Li Keqiang put forward at the First Lancang-Mekong Cooperation (LMC) Leaders' Meeting the initiative that “China is willing to take joint efforts with Mekong countries to establish the Lancang-Mekong Water Resources Cooperation Center and Environmental Cooperation Center, strengthen technical cooperation and the exchange of talents and information as well as enhance green, coordinated and sustainable development.” As a concrete measure for implementing the leaders' initiative, the Lancang-Mekong Environmental Cooperation Roundtable Dialogue was held in Beijing on November 15, 2017. The Seminar on Lancang-Mekong Eco-Industrial Park and Environmental Remediation Technology is a part of the series-conference activities of Lancang-Mekong Environmental Cooperation Roundtable Dialog.
