Lancang-Mekong Cooperation Mechanism：

Lancang-Mekong Cooperation Mechanism was proposed by Chinese Primer Li Keqiang in the 17th China-ASEAN Leaders` meeting held in November of 2015, which aims to strengthen all-round and friendly cooperation among China and Mekong countries and promote regional overall development.

The First Lancang-Mekong (LMC) Foreign Ministers Meeting held in Jinghong, Yunnan Province of China in November of 2015 formally announced the establishment of the LMC Mechanism.

The Second Lancang-Mekong (LMC) Foreign Ministers Meeting was held in Siem Reap of Cambodia in December of 2016, and released the Joint Press Communiqué of the Second Lancang-Mekong Cooperation (LMC) Foreign Ministers’ Meeting.

Principles:Consensus, equality, mutual consultation and coordination, voluntarism, common contribution and shared benefits, and respect for the United Nations Charter and international laws

Mechanism Construction:LMC Mechanism will be a multi-level mechanism including leaders` meeting, foreign ministers’ meeting, senior officials’ meeting and working group meeting of related departments.

Orientation：

Promote sustainable development in the six countries of the sub-region:

Face global and regional environmental challenge together, promoting the Lancang-Mekong countries to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals;

Promote cooperation in the Lancang-Mekong ecological Environmental protection:

Promote Lancang-Mekong natural resource preservation and ecosystem management, protecting the regional ecological environment together;

Provide a dialogue platform for regional environment and development policy:

Promote regional environmental management capacity:

Promote the regional environmental management capacity, increasing the Lancang-Mekong countries’ capacities on environmental management;

Organize and promote environmental-friendly technology and industry cooperation, carry out technology and personnel communication and exchange.
